Covered high school sports for various schools throughout San Diego County. Was
in charge of keeping statistics as well as providing a creative yet factual
story on deadline. As an intern in the spring of 2008, wrote a weekly
human-interest feature on a San Diego County high school athlete. Also worked
with the Coyote program to record high school and junior college agate scores
for the next day's publication. As an intern in the fall of 2008, learned video
production and editing.

Managing Editor
Managed a large staff that produced one of the best college newspapers in
California. Coordinated media content during October wildfires and May drug
bust. Directed the online, sports, photo and news sections of the newspaper.
Duties included making the final edits on the next day's issue, ensuring the content
of the newspaper is held to the highest standards and holding regular staff
meetings. Started out as an unpaid contributor, but in just over a semester,
worked up to Assistant Sports Editor. Duties included regular coverage of San
Diego State’s baseball team, side-by-side editing with writers as well as
copyediting.

Association of Community Colleges. Was awarded first place in on-the-spot
sports writing at the 2006 California JACC convention. Have also won JACC
